Hiiii, I'm Myesha Evon. Creativity has always been a part of my life. Growing up in Cleveland, Ohio, in a family of artists, I witnessed firsthand how creative expression could serve as both a means of survival and a means of storytelling. My father, a drummer, made a living through his music, and I was drawn to my artistic path early on. Photography became my medium, my way of preserving history, amplifying voices, and documenting the world around me. My journey started at 14 when I attended an arts-focused public high school and majored in photography.
By the time I was 15, I was unknowingly building my business, photographing family portraits, weddings, and community events. What started as a way to support myself quickly became a mission: to use my lens to celebrate and elevate the stories of those around me. Since then, my work has focused on capturing authentic narratives of underrepresented communities, particularly Black stories that are often overlooked or misrepresented. Whether photographing everyday moments that reflect the beauty of Black life or collaborating with artists and organizers who are reshaping culture, my goal has remained the same: to create images that resonate, inspire, and preserve the essence of these experiences.
I am passionate about what I do because I know some young Black girls and boys see me and have a sense of hope and possibility in this creative journey. For me, photography is more than a profession; it’s a lifelong pursuit of seeing, learning, and documenting the world with honesty and depth. I am committed to this path, and I hope to continue to grow as both an artist and a storyteller.
My favorite part about photography is having the freedom to experiment, explore concepts, collaborate with other creatives who share my vision, and create a sense of community within a single photo. That freedom of expression and wandering is liberating once you're able to tap into it.
I've curated with @beyonce @vogueportugal & @nike. I would like to curate with @kingjames, @skims, and @badgirlriri (hopefully soon!).📸
