Hi, I'm Faith Joyvon, Vonjovey. I'm a self-taught director and photographer from Jacksonville, Florida, now based in Los Angeles. Growing up as a preacher's kid, I was surrounded by powerful stories—moments that moved people and brought life into focus. My first experience behind a camera was with a blue @JVCprousa camcorder my mother gifted me when I was much younger. I began by capturing family memories, and soon, I found myself traveling with my mom to churches and conferences, photographing everything from pastors to gospel artists to the raw, unfiltered moments that unfold in those sacred spaces. I was also an athlete and a sports photographer, but eventually, I made a choice: I decided to commit fully to my creative journey and the direction I felt called toward. That decision brought me into the world of music, where I've had the opportunity to work with music moguls and artists, travel, direct music videos, and partner with some incredible global brands. But the work I'm most proud of is creating truly free art—no creative brief, no guidelines, just me, my camera, and whatever I'm feeling in the moment. Inspiration often comes to me in dreams or while I'm driving; when it does, I don't hesitate. I pick up my camera and capture whatever my heart needs to express.
I'm passionate about what I do because it gives me a true sense of freedom; it allows me to live my truth, express myself, and share something real with the world. My art is driven by raw emotion, by moments when I hear certain sounds or see particular lighting. Lighting is a massive part of my storytelling—the deep contrasts and shadows, the way they add dimension and intensity. I find beauty in that. I'm also deeply inspired by the people and conversations around me. My work is undefined by any genre; instead, I let each story lead, approaching every project with a fresh perspective. I'm constantly evolving as an artist, and my fluidity reflects that. I strive to create work that resonates, connects deeply, and makes people feel something. My ultimate goal is to share my art and tell more stories worldwide through film and art exhibits, inspiring others and serving a greater purpose through my journey. My gift has saved me in many ways, and I'm genuinely grateful for that.
I've been a storyteller and creative for over 15 years, even before I picked up a camera. I was always creating something, whether writing songs with my cousins in the back room on #CamshireDrive and recording them on tapes, forming dance groups with friends and coming up with choreography, or organizing fashion and talent shows for the church as a teenager. Looking back, it's funny to think about, but I was honestly in my creative bag from an early age.
One of my favorite things about what I do is witnessing an idea come to life, moving from concept to completion. There's something powerful in the process—the collaboration, especially when working with others, and the satisfaction of seeing it through. Even when the journey gets rough, when obstacles arise, there's beauty in pushing forward and trusting that vision. And then, in the end, stepping back and thinking, "Wow, we created this beautiful piece that started as just a thought." Sharing that final result, knowing the resilience it took to bring it to life, is truly fulfilling.
