My name is David Coy. I was born and raised in Trenton, NJ. Honestly, my passion for photography was accidental, lol. I went to film school to learn how to make movies. I wanted to be a music video director and was editing on a pirated Final Cut Pro. I accidentally upgraded it and couldn't use it anymore. So, I learned Premiere Pro and started messing around with Photoshop. I started taking photos of myself to practice and fell in love with it. I learned as much as possible and spent much time on YouTube. I just decided this is what I want to do.
I am passionate about photography because it's just so much fun! To be able to create incredible and beautiful images that speak to people. It's a creative outlet for me. Not every shoot is the same. Not every day is the same. I love learning about photography. It's a combination of my love of learning and creating. It's about showing and highlighting my people, black people, in the best way I can.
One of my favorite parts of doing what I do best is the look and response from the client when they receive their photos. My 2nd favorite part is creating whatever I want that resonates with me to express my feelings, thoughts, and emotions through my art. Recreating a poster for a movie, I loved growing up with a dope headshot that would help someone get hired for a job. I am doing something that matters.
I've curated with @JessyJPhoto, an amazing photographer!! I want to curate with @BadGalRiri for her @FentyBeauty brand and @Marvel + @DCofficial because of my love of comic books. 📸
