Hi! My name is JC Falcon, and I am an afro-Latino Chief Lighting Technician based in Los Angeles with experience in Features, TV shows, Music Videos & Commercials. I'm originally from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Still, I grew up in Allentown, PA, and have spent the majority of my life working in the media industry in one way or another.
I fell in love with setlighting because of the complexity of the work; operating and modifying light opens up a world of excitement. I've been lucky enough to work with many collaborators and appreciate everyone who's accepted opinions about different lighting looks.
The first time I realized how vital light was, was when I was in film school, and we would use all ranges of cameras to get a good image. If the light didn't look good, then the camera couldn't do its job, so that's when it all clicked for me...but it wasn't until a few years into working in the industry that I decided to take on set lighting as a career.
My favorite part about lighting a set is looking at a room/studio/stage with the creative treatment in mind and thinking about all the different approaches to lighting it. The connection between problem-solving, creativity in mood/tone and limitless execution options with technology makes it fun for me.
I've had the pleasure of working with some big brands and artists, but there's nothing better than working with a solid group of people behind the camera. Fun times on set and lasting friendships get made out of that, which makes the best stories.
